The
International Swimming Pool Exhibition starts
moving
The Salón Internacional de la Piscina 2001 (The
International Swimming Pool Exhibition) will be held
in Barcelona from 17th to 20th October 2001. Innovations
include the new venue of the Exhibition at the Montjuïc-2
Halls, with all the advantages of a modern location.
The international projection of the event, started in
the last edition in October 1999, has led its promoters
to start-up a complete communications programme (invitations,
direct marketing and campaign in the trade press), to
attract professional visitors and exceed the good results
achieved in 1999.
Direct information through the web provides professionals
with a summary of activities, with direct access to
participation applications, discount vouchers for travel
and hotels accommodation and other services of interest.

In 1999, the Exhibition covered a surface area of 14,241
sq.m., with a participation of 264 companies, 115 of
which were from abroad, equivalent to 43.6% of the total.
The presence of 11,632 professional visitors from all
over the world is proof of the quality and diversity
of the exhibition, and establishes Barcelona as an international
meeting point for the swimming pool industry.
Following the European integration process and organised
by ASOFAP, a meeting was held with the presidents of
European Associations of Equipment, Chemical Product
Manufacturers, Pool Builders, Technicians and Producers
to promote the study of a single Standard that is able
to control, in a unified fashion and with the same criteria
for all EU countries, the quality of water and its maintenance,
together with building and environmental safety.
Several acts took place during the exhibition, such
as the 5th Congress of Aquatic Activities.
Since it started in 1994, the Exhibition has progressed
to such an extent that in the near future, Barcelona
is predicted as becoming the capital in Europe for swimming
pools.
