COMPONENTS, CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POOL AND SURROUNDING INSTALLATIONS

2.1. On analysing the different regulations, a certain controversy can be observed on the criteria to make overflows compulsory or allow skimmers or other systems.

The Balearic Islands, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla León and Navarra do not establish any criteria and the majority comply with the Ruling dated 31st May.

Andalucía, Aragón, Catalonia, Murcia, La Rioja, Basque Country and Valencia allow their use depending on the surface area of the water sheet and set the minimum number of skimmers to install, specifying that at least 50% of the water volume to be recirculated should be done on the surface.

Asturias and Galicia stipulate the compulsory use of the overflow system, specifying that in those pools already built, skimmers will only be authorised from a certain surface area of water sheet.

The Autonomous Community of Madrid does not refer to any system, simply indicating that pools will be designed in order to achieve complete homogenisation of water contained.

The Community of Cantabria permits all pools with a surface area of water sheet over 300 m2 to use overflows or autonomous depression filtration units. Skimmers may be used in pools under 300 m2.

2.2. The construction of the pool should follow the techniques of this type of work, and must also satisfy certain building requirements (watertight, non-slip bottom, depths, etc.). This is specified in all regulations.

2.3. All regulations mention the need for showers around the perimeter of the pool. The number depends on the capacity of the installation.

2.4. All regulations, except the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and Navarra which do not mention it, forbid channels around the pool and stipulate that compulsory pass showers and footbaths must be available, although each one has its own criteria regarding their location.
